With robust frameworks and regular reviews, we help you meet regulatory requirements while reducing governance risk.
Auto-enrolment has had a significant impact on the pensions of UK employees. However, when approached strategically, your workplace savings strategy can deliver so much more. From improving recruitment and retention to enhancing financial wellbeing across your organisation, it can play a key role in supporting your employees and your business growth.
Providing a workplace pension is a legal requirement for most employees. However, by tuning in to the evolving needs and concerns of your staff, you can provide a workplace savings package that helps you stand out in a competitive job market.
When your team members feel more confident about their financial future, they are more likely to be focused on their work here and now. Therefore, when you offer a pension scheme or workplace savings plan that is easy to understand and effectively communicated, you empower your employees to take control of their financial wellbeing.
A workplace savings plan only works if your staff understand what it is providing for them. In delivering financial education specific to your organisation’s arrangements, you can help your employees make informed decisions and get more from their pension.
Your workplace pension plan becomes far more valuable when employees understand the contributions being made on their behalf and the role it can play in their long-term financial future. That's why communication and education should be considered just as important as scheme governance and administration.
By providing clear, tailored information and guidance when required, we can help employees better understand and engage with their workplace savings, contributing to greater financial confidence and long-term financial wellbeing.

Employee Benefits | Growing Business | Client Since 2022.
Their Situation
When Acumen Employee Benefits began working with a small start-up in 2022, the business had a pension scheme and group risk benefits in place, but no wider employee benefits strategy.
As the company grew, there was an opportunity to develop its offering and provide greater support for employees.
The Challenge
How could the business introduce more valuable employee benefits while making the most of its existing resources?
It needed an approach that supported its people, made financial sense and could develop alongside the business.
How Acumen Helped
We worked closely with the business to develop an employee benefits strategy that supported its goals.
This included:
Introducing Pension Salary Exchange and an Electric Vehicle (EV) Scheme, generating National Insurance savings for both the business and its employees
Using employer savings to help fund additional benefits, including Private Medical Insurance and a Flexible Benefits Portal
Delivering complimentary Financial Wellbeing Workshops, helping employees better understand and manage their finances
Building an ongoing relationship with the business, supporting its benefits offering as the company grew
The Difference It Made
By 2025, the business had grown significantly and won a national Employer of the Year award, with its employee reward and wellbeing strategy contributing to its success.
What began as a relatively simple benefits offering had developed into a wider package of support for employees, through the advice and implementation provided by Acumen Employee Benefits.
Our relationship continues, with a shared focus on understanding the business's goals and supporting its employees

Do the workplace savings we offer need to be in a pension scheme format?
Auto-enrolment pensions are the most commonly used workplace savings schemes as they are a legal requirement for all UK businesses that employ staff. However, other options such as payroll ISAs can be used to enhance your offering.
What is the benefit of offering more than the minimum contribution required by auto-enrolment?
Financial wellbeing is becoming a much more prevalent theme in employee benefits packages. And since an employee’s pension has a huge impact on their future financial wellbeing, providing a workplace savings plan that goes above what you are legally required to contribute is an excellent way to support, retain and attract employees. Alongside this, access to clear guidance and support can help employees better understand their pension, make informed decisions and plan with greater confidence for when they may want to retire.
How do we ensure employees are engaging with their workplace savings?
Education and communication are key when it comes to employees engaging with their workplace savings. By actively involving them in how their pension works, how funds are invested and how and what they can eventually draw down from their pension, staff are much more likely to take an active role in how their pension is managed, potentially leading to less admin time for you and a new-found appreciation for the scheme for them.
Can you help our employees with their retirement planning?
Acumen Employee Benefits works closely with Acumen Financial Planning to provide bespoke workplace financial education programmes. This can be provided in a group workshop format, on a one-to-one confidential basis or online via pre-recorded webinars. View our information on Employee Financial Wellness Programmes to learn more.
Can salary exchange be used for pension contributions and workplace savings?
Salary exchange, often referred to as salary sacrifice, is widely used for pension contributions, affording employees and employers tax and national insurance savings. To learn more about how this works, visit our Salary Exchange page.
