Originally from Dunfermline, Stewart’s route into financial services is more unusual. Studying Applied Chemistry at Fife College and then Forensic Sciences at Abertay University, Stewart spent over 12 years working in the optical industry.

In 2023, Stewart made the move into financial services and joined us on the Financial Planning Support team. Alongside his previous qualifications, he has also achieved the CII LP2 qualification in financial services products and solutions.

In his spare time, Stewart loves a game of five-a-side football, spending time with his family, and relaxing in front of a good TV series.

What do you like most about working at Acumen Financial Planning?

“The people. They make the place what it is. I wouldn’t get out of bed so easily for ‘financial planning’, but for the people, it is easy.”

What has been your proudest career achievement to date?

“Getting my foot in the door at Acumen Financial Planning. Having never worked in the industry before, getting this role felt like the pivot my life needed.”

Tell us one thing that people would be surprised to find out about you.

“While studying Forensic Science at university, I enjoyed the crime scene element most. If anyone needs fingerprints taken, just let me know.”

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Be nice to people.”
