Joining the team in November 2022 as a Training & Competence Supervisor and later being promoted to Compliance Manager in November 2023, Pauline brings three decades of experience in financial services to our team. 

Please provide a brief overview of your career history.

“I graduated with a degree in Risk Management in 1993 and I have been working in Financial Service for 30 years.

I worked in Santander for 15 years in various regulated roles such as Regional Manager covering the Financial Planners, and then Barclays Bank, again in various roles such as Head of Training and Competence, Advice Quality, and latterly Senior Risk Manager.”

What are your key responsibilities within your role at Acumen Financial Planning?  

“I am responsible for the completion of regulatory requirements for TFPG such as FCA returns, FCA applications, risk assessments, professional indemnity insurance renewals, completion of the compliance monitoring plan and oversight of responsibilities of other key functions like the training and competence function. The role is varied and every day is different.”

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

“I love to travel and enjoy visiting new places, so family road trips are my favorite weekend pastime. I am also a terrible cook but I love to try, so it’s a hit and miss in my kitchen.”

What is your favourite thing about working at Acumen Financial Planning?

“The people – this was the main reason I joined the company. I love what Sandy has built and I feel lucky to have great people around me as colleagues.”

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given (personally or professionally)? 

“Be soft and gentle with your words…as you may well end up eating them one day (from my Mum).”

What is your proudest career achievement? 

“Supporting a team of 9 to pass the PCIAM exam at the first attempt.”
