Laura joined Acumen Financial Planning in April 2021 as a Training and Competence Supervisor and was promoted to Regional Manager of our team in Glasgow in November 2022. Most recently, Laura was appointed Director of The Financial Planning Group in Summer 2024. As a Chartered Financial Planner, Laura’s role includes managing clients and supporting the team and future development of the firm in Glasgow and the surrounding area.

Laura started her career in financial services in 2000 at was then Scottish Equitable, now AEGON. During her 13 years with the company, she held various roles, including working within the Sales Training Division. She spent a further five years with Royal London before holding various contracting positions.

Outside of the office, Laura loves spending time with her family and dogs. She also enjoys Korean Kickboxing, live music, holidays and sleeping!

“From the initial chat I had with Acumen Financial Planning, I could tell that they had a welcoming culture within the business. It was also evident that they were a very professional and caring business, putting their clients at the fore. I knew immediately that I wanted to join them. Everyone is very approachable and willing to help each other out. Despite joining during lockdown, I was made to feel part of the team immediately.”

Tell us one thing that people would be surprised to find out about you.

“I failed my driving test twice in one day. Although I don’t think you are allowed to sit your test more than once a day nowadays – it was 1997!”
