Angus Mackenzie
Certified Financial Planner
Angus joined the Acumen Financial Planning Team in June 2006 and now has over 35 years of experience advising clients.
As a Certified Financial Planner and accredited by the Society of Later Life Advisors (SOLLA), Angus looks after clients at or coming up to retirement and in their later life. He works from his office which is co-located with his home 20 miles north of Norwich and serves clients in East Anglia and London.
Angus’ aim as a financial planner is to take away all the worries that clients can have so that they can live their lives to the full doing what they want to do. By having annual reviews as a minimum, his clients know that they are being looked after and if their circumstances change, he can help them adapt the plan to meet these changes.
When he is not working Angus enjoys trying to play golf, playing bridge through the winter and informal croquet through the summer. He and his wife Ann have two grown-up daughters, a Labrador and a puppy (her son) born on 14 June 2021.
What do you like most about working at Acumen Financial Planning?
“The variety of clients that I look after, both personal and corporate, knowing that many of my clients see me as the “go-to person” when they need advice or perhaps when something unexpected has cropped up. Most of my clients are now retired, and I have helped them transition from working to make money, to making their hard-earned money work for them.”
What do you feel is an essential skill in being a successful financial planner?
“A key skill of a financial planner is to help clients establish not only their financial goals but their life goals. Once this has been achieved, it is only then possible to create a bespoke financial plan. The problems and concerns that clients have – have not changed over the decades but of course, the tools that we use to implement the financial plan have changed, and the result is a far more efficient and responsive service for our clients.”
