What is Financial Planning?

Financial Planning starts by working out what is most important to you.

Financial Planning is a process that everybody should follow in order to get the most out of life and ultimately achieve their full financial promise.

Put simply, Financial Planning starts by working out what’s most important to you. Your Financial Plan, current situation, and aspirations will be as unique as you are. Some common goals that are included in financial plans include

  • helping your children, or grandchildren to buy a house or go to university
  • moving house or building a property portfolio
  • saving for a sufficient pension pot
  • planning early retirement
  • setting up, selling or buying a business
  • build up significant funds tax efficiently

Financial Planning is essential if you're going to achieve your goals. By working out what the costs will be and when you will need the money, you can start to plan your finances to work out how to get where you want to be. Financial Planning is a six step process:

By matching your finances to your goals you will:

  • Have a much clearer view of where you are going in life;
  • Reduce the stress involved, and
  • Be in control and have peace of mind

Many goals may require investing over the long term. You may subsequently need to invest in order to achieve these goals and ultimately you will wish to have a degree of knowledge about how your monies will be invested.
